Kottayam
Though climatic conditions of Kottayam are essentially moderate and pleasant,
the most pleasant to visit is between October to March. The temperature ranges
from maximum of 34-35 degree Celsius to minimum of 19-20 degree Celsius in
December. The climate is particularly hot and humid during summers and rainfall
is torrential during June to September.

Kottayam is known as the land of three Ls Lakes, Latex and Letters.
The place is well known for being host to beautiful sceneries presented by
a large number of inland canals, streams and placid lakes

flowing through
the vicinity in their full youth. The region is also wealthy in terms of widespread
rubber plantations and hence justifying the literal meaning of its title.
Kottayam also witnesses fertile crops and transport links through the captivating
Backwaters in its domesticity.
The renowned Vembanad Lake constitutes Kottayams magnificent backwaters,
a famous tourist destination only growing more popular with time. The place
boasts of 100% literacy and is hub to a host of beautiful churches, including
St. Marys Church and St. Josephs Monastery. Tourists also like
to visit the famous Ettumanoor Shiva Temple and Thirunakkara Mahadeva temple
here.
Kottayam also offers Kumarakom Backwaters, which present just perfect sceneries
formed by green pastures complementing the blue waters. The experience of
serenely sailing on a kettuvollam or houseboat, underneath a gentle blue sky,
amidst the full bloom of nature, robs off all fatigue of mind and soul while
on the waterways.
