Thottappally
Take a one night cruise starting from Alleppey to Thottappalley. A splendid
way to spend a night, you sail through the legendary Punnamada Lake - the
venue of the famous Nehru trophy snake boat race.
As you sail along you can see the traditional wooden houses on the banks and
visit the "Chavara Bhavan" the ancestral home of the blessed "Kuriakose
Elias Chavara". Located 6 km from Alleppey, this house has preserved
intact a historically important 250 year old beacon of light, in

its original
and primitive form.
Stop in between and visit the ancient Ambalappuzha temple and the 400 year
old Church at Champakkulam one of the oldest churches established by
St. Thomas. As you sail along you can visit the 11th century Buddha image
made of granite, located 3 km east of Alleppey.
Experience the beauty of the water birds, and enjoy the serene and quite life
along the backwaters. For those interested in trying their hand in fishing,
angling rods are provided on request. After spending the night amidst the
tranquility of the Backwaters, disembark the boat at Thottappally, taking
